Beckie Mossor, Awarded NC Veterinary Technician of the Year for 2023

Appalachian State University Veterinary Technology program is proud to announce that Beckie Mossor, MPA, RVT, has been honored as the North Carolina Veterinary Technician of the Year for 2023, by North Carolina Association of Veterinary Technicians (NCAVT). This prestigious award recognizes exceptional contributions to the veterinary profession and the community, as well as a commitment to clinical excellence and animal welfare.

With over 17 years of experience in the field, Beckie has demonstrated outstanding dedication both as a veterinary technician and as an educator. Currently serving as the Practice Management Coordinator in the Veterinary Technology program, she has been a driving force for innovation and improved practices within the veterinary community in North Carolina.

"Beckie embodies the spirit of compassion, skill, and professionalism that we value in veterinary technicians," said the nomination letter submitted by the current president of the NCAVT, Kim Lewis, RVT, and immediate past president, Maureen Susi, RVT. "Her commitment to advancing our profession, mentoring future technicians, and advocating for animal care is truly inspiring. We are thrilled to recognize her hard work and dedication."

Throughout her career, Beckie has been actively involved in various initiatives that support the ongoing education and development of veterinary technicians. She has organized numerous workshops, participated in local outreach programs, and served on various boards related to veterinary medicine, ensuring that both professionals and animals benefit from her expertise.

In addition to her work in clinical practice, Beckie has also made a significant impact in the legislative arena, advocating for policies that enhance the roles of veterinary technicians in animal health care. Her efforts have helped to elevate the importance of this profession within the veterinary community and to the public at large.

"I am deeply honored to receive this award," Beckie stated. "It reflects the hard work of so many in our field who strive to provide the highest level of care for animals. I share this recognition with my colleagues and mentors who have continually inspired and supported me throughout my career."
